Thank you! I would think that the second group, the Volunteer Cavalry would be his unit. Alfred M. Smith was from Franklin County, and lived close to the Habersham County line. Stephen and Jesse are both family names, and likely Afred's cousins.

Can you tell me anything about the 11th Georgia VOLUNTEER Cavalry and Company H? When they were formed? Regimental History? Is there a muster roll online?
