A 53rd Roster says the following: Parker, John A. enlisted as a Private in Co. I, 25th Alabama Regiment, transferred to Company H, 53rd GA Regiment Inf. May 5,1862. Captured at
Cold Harbor, Virginia June 1, 1864. Paroled at Elmira, NY,
and sent to James River, Virginia, for exchange March 2, 1865. The problem is that after his service, he bragged
about his fighting in the Battles of Chickamauga, Atlanta,
and other places where he could not have been had the above
facts have been true. Have you any information on this
matter? I believe there were two John A. Parkers and some-
one has combined them into one person, mistakenly. Thanks
