The 50th Georgia Infantry Regiment also had a fair number of Irish in its ten companies. The regiment was made up of men from many of the southernmost counties in Georgia. Company E, Thomas County, had a number of Irish. The company commander (and later regimental commander) was Peter Alexander Selkirk McGlashan. That sounds pretty Irish, doesn't it? The 50th Georgia was at the Battle of Fredericksburg as part of Paul J. Semmes' brigade, but was held in reserve behind Cobb's unit.
