Yes, we're Irish. Also Scotch, with McCollum and Price and Wallace, with some Cherokee thrown in for seasoning.

Wofford formed the 18th in April, 1861. After he made Brigadier upon Hood's promotion, he commanded the Texas Brigad at Sharpsburg. Col S. Z. Ruff then commanded the regiment. He was killed at Knoxville.

When the 18th was transferred to Cobb's Brigade, an Cobb was killed at Fredericksburg, Wofford took over.

My two grat uncles were Alexander and Francis Boring, from Cobb County. Francis was wounded in the shoulder at Spottsylvania, May 8 or 9, 1864. While at home recuperating, he was captured at Roswell, Georgia, July 9, 1864. He was sent to Camp Douglas, and suffered through that hell for the rest of the war. He was paroled in June, 1865.

Alexander was capturedat Cedar Creek, October 19,1864. He was sent to Fort Delaware. He was also paroled in June, 1865. Uncle Frank got rheumatism at Camp Douglas. He was pretty much an invalid the last yearsof his life, but lived untl 1899. Uncle Alex died in 1906. Stan
