His birthdate could well be wrong it has been listed as 1846,1847 and 1849 from different census sheets. I believe the 1846 is more correct than the 1849 which would put him at 15 when signing up in 1861. He was the 4th son. His older brothers James W., John T. and Henry D. have all been found in various units that were formed in the Meriwether Co. area.
Their mother was a widow with a daughter and younger son at home.

This is just a shot in the dark and I was hoping someone had more info on the unit.
What I found shows 4 men including M.V. Braswell deserted from this unit on Feb 6, 1865. 3 showed up in Richmond hospitals and Union prison records. I believe the unit was fighting at Hatcher's Run in VA on that date.

Will I need to order the records to see if this is him?
