James M. Hendrix

James M. Hendrix served in Company I, 40th Georgia Infantry Regiment. He enlisted along with what appears to be cousins from Hall County. James survived the war. The cousins did not.

I am trying to determine the Cavalry Unit that James went to as a Captain in October 1864 after discharge from the 40th.

I need the unit in order to conplete his service record.

I anyone has suggestions, please let me know.

Hendrix, Hillery W.- private March 4, 1862. Died of
disease at Knoxville, Tenn. June 7 or 14, 1862.

Hendrix, James M.- private March 4, 1862. Captured at
Vicksburg, Miss. July 4, 1863, and paroled there July 6,
1863. Transferred to Cavalry and elected Captain
September 1864.

Hendrix, William H.- private March 4, 1862. Died of
measles June 14, 1862.
