My gt grandfather was John E. McConnell (from Gordon County Ga), captain in 6th Ga. Cavalry Co I. I have gotten some field papers on him, but what I can't figure out is what battles and areas he served in. His wife had stated he was under Stonewall Jackson's command.
He is listed as: 1st Sergeant and 2nd Lt in Co. F. 4 Ga Infantry, on 5-10-1862 to Captain Co I 6th Ga cavalry.
4-16-65 surrendered at Charlotte NC. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. Thanks, mg
