The Stonewall Jackson reference is off base. The 4th Georgia Regiment passed much of its first year at Camp Jackson near Portsmouth VA, which may have been named for the Confederate hero. Perhaps that's what the widow remembered -- she would have received and addressed letters directed to Camp Jackson.
