I had a great-great grandfather who was in the 34th regiment and was supposedly wounded at Champion Hill and later died in Mobile, Al of measles. I am not sure why he was in Mobile and where he might be buried. Any info on history of this regiment after surrender at Vicksburg and potential burial sites in Mobile would be appreciated.
