Re: 34th Regiment Georgia Volunteers, Army of Tenn

Twelve years ago three burial trenches were located on grounds of the Grand Hotel Confederate Hospital grounds. The hotel had burned many years ago and the listing of Confederate soldiers buried there was lost forever.

The records of a Captain in Company B of the 43rd Tennessee stated he died at Point Clorr, one of the soldiers shipped with sick and wounded from Vicksburg to Mobile via New Orleans. I had no idea where this Pt. Clorr was, but that announcement cleared up an obvious trancriptional error. I got in touch with the local SCV Camp that was handling the procurement of VA markers and got one for him.

Suggest you have the necessary information needed to procure a marker for your man. Try a Goggle search: Point Clear Confederate Hospital
