Frank G. Colley was admitted to General Hospital, Howard's Grove, Richmond, Virginia July 20, 1862, Mumps Fever, returned to duty August 26,1862, "transferred from Bed 2," recorded as in Receiving and Wayside Hospital/General Hospital No. 9, Richmond on June 4, 1864, transferred to Jackson Hospital, Richmond with a V. S. head MB, June 5, 1864, June 23, 1864 returned to duty, October 4, 1864 he is recorded as receiving a clothing issue.

V. S. - Vulnus Sclopeticum Relating to a wound caused by a gunshot wound. Hence, he was struck by a Minie Ball

The 61st was in engaged in battle at the Wilderness, May 5; Spotsylvannia C. H. May 17, 18, 19. 20, & 23; Hawes' Shop May 28; and Cold Harbor June 1, 1864
