My ancestor MAJ John Thomas Carson 12th Ga was one of the Immortal 600. He was shipped to Morris Island but inexplicably he was exchanged at some point after reaching Charleston. This was after Grant had instituted a No Exchnage policy. Any insight or info on exchanges in Chas in 1864 would be appreciated via e mail.
