Records of
William T. Phillips show that he was wounded on Nov. 30, 1864, and captured at Franklin on Dec. 17th. There is one record that gives the date of capture as the 18th, but it can be disregarded. Clearly Phillips was being treated for wounds suffered on Nov. 30th. He and hundreds of other Confederates were captured when Federal forces occupied the town. That took place on December 17th, as stated in a dozen or more records in this service file.
