Re: Malachi Lawrence 3rd GA Cav

I found the Malachi Lawrence you are referring to in my original search. However, he does not appear to be the same individual as the Malachi Lawrence I am looking for. The 11th was an ANV unit. This Malachi obviously was in the Army of Tennessee. I have a copy of his pension applications, there are about 12 pages. He states that he served with Co. E 3rd Georgia Cavalry, Horton's and Harrison's Brigades, Wheeler's Cavalry. He was wounded in January 1863, and afterward served with the Quartermaster's department, apparently in the same regiment. He states that he was present at the surrender in Greenville, SC. There are also affidavits from other ex-soldiers verifying his statements. He filed first in Chattooga County in 1901, and was rejected, then in 1903 in Walker County and was granted his pension.
