Georgia Soldier

I am searching for a Ga. Soldier that has a very common name. John Brock. My John Brock was a resident of Jackson County, Ga. who was born in 1803 which seems to me to be rather aged for a civil War Soldier.

I have some data that says he died from wounds received at Gettysburg. I have other data on the same individual that shows that he was captured at Deep Bottom Virginia and was finally exchanged in late 1864. In the same file it shows that his name appeared on a list of Confederate Soldiers that were surrendered at "Bennett's House" in North Carolina in early 1865 and was finally paroled at Baimbridge, Ga.

There is a John Brock in the 1st Ga. Infantry; 26th Bat., Ga. Infantry Regiment; 59 Reg. Ga Inf. Regiment, etc. It seems to me that all of these individuals may have been mixed together by the persons who transcribed the information into the CST.

In short, I'm totally confused. If someone would put some "fresh eyes" on my John Brock it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any assistance.
