Major William Austin Leyden of the 9th Georgia Artillery was born in Pennsylvania and joined the Confederacy. I would like to have heard some of the reasons that motivated him. The Tennessee Questionnaire of Civil War Soldiers actually asked some of these questions of soldiers.
