Re: GA 36th Infantry Regiment -Company L

Re. Henry Mooney. I found an interesting newspaper article dated 1886 that lists Henry Mooney, Co. L, 36th., to be buried with many other Civil War soldiers in a Newnan Cemetery. The news article was prepared by Mr. Issac N. Shannon, formally a sharp-shooter in Maney's Brigade, Cheatham's Division, Army of Tennessee. Mr. Shannon expressed concern that the graves were unprotected from mutilations of stock. He writes "In justice to the merits of these brave men, nine-tenths of whom now sleep far from home and kindred, ought not their graves to be inclosed?" The 1886 list of soldiers buried was noted to be incomplete, but it may be worthwhile today to check if these named graves are marked and maintained. I am sure Mr. Shannon would appreciate that.
