I am researching D.B. Powell, Pvt. 2nd Ga. Infantry (Reserves), Company G.. His records say he was a prisoner of war surrendering to Brig. Gen. E.M. Mcfcook by Maj. Gen sam Jones, CSA at Tallahassee, Florida on May 10, 1865.
His records are brief - one page indicates that he was in the 2nd Ga. artillery.
My question is, what would a member of the Georgia Reserves (age about 47) be doing surrendering in Florida. A cursory search of the internet doesn't reveal much about the history and movements of the 2nd Georgia Reserves.
Any info is appreciated.
