Re: Why would member of 2nd Ga. Reserves be parole

It would appear that while the commanding officer to which his unit reported, surrendered his command at Tallahassee, Fla., Pvt. Powell and his unit remained at their station at Andersonville prison, or close thereby.

Powell, Private, Company G, 2nd Georgia Reserves, enlisted December 29, 1864 at Macon for the war, recorded present on the Jan/Feb, 1865 muster roll at Andersonville, Ga., among the prisoners of war surrendered by Maj. Gen. Sam Jones at Tallahassee, Fla., May 10, 1865, paroled at Albany, Ga. May 16, 1865, his name appears on a sheet headed "Post Register, Albany, Ga.," May 17, 2nd Ga. Arty.

Note, this last entry is a mystery
