Battle of Chickamauga

I have been told that Confederate soldiers who died during the Battle of Chickamauga were buried on the battlefield, and that after the war was over they were all moved to the Marietta Confederate Cemetery. Can anyone verify this? Who would have buried them after the battle? I certainly would appreciate any details about this.

I am trying find this soldier:

Wesley Allen Cooley ~ Private Company E, 16th Louisiana Infantry.
En. April 21st, 1862, Alexandria, La.
Roll to June 30th, 1862, Absent, sick, in Hospl.

Thank you very much,
