I believe Gerald said that Lillian Henderson's group DID use the same microfilms as are available at the National Archives. They just used them poorly or incompletely in many cases.
Gerald, et al, I don't believe there was any vast conspiracy of any kind, I'm just kind of curious why they would state "no further record" for their roster, when there was much more information. It's one thing to provide a synoptic or abbreviated roster listing, it is something else to lead the reader to believe that no additional information is available.
Why didn't they just list the amount of information they found necessary or had time for and leave off the "no further record" part?
I haven't thoroughly researched this, but it also appears that many of the Georgia troops captured at Vicksburg have this "no further record" line after July '63.
