I am attempting to determine if James G. Maddux, b. 22 Sep 1842, of Heard County served in the Confederate military. I have found a person by that name listed in the "9th Inf. (State Guards) DeLaperriere's Co." in a couple of sources. I have not yet found any info on this organization. Does anyone know what area this group was from?

James was not listed in Nancy Cornell's "1864 Census Re-Organizing the Georgia Militia," although his father (with whom he lived before and after the war) Ira was. I don't have ready access to the Compiled Service Records, or other such tools.
