Dave,

Georgia 28TH Heavy Artillery Battalion also known as 28th Siege Artillery Battalion organized with eight companies on Aug. 6, 1863. Company I assigned on Jan. 28, 1864.

Converted to Infantry service in Jan. 1864. Field consolidation with the 47TH Infantry Regiment from April 9th-26th 1865.

Surrendered by General Joseph E. Johnston at Durham Station, Orange County, North Carolina on April 26, 1865.

Battles:

Olustee - Feb. 20th, 1864
Savannah Campaign - Nov.-Dec. 1864
Petersburg Siege - June 1864-April 1865
Carolinas Campaign - Feb.-April 1865
Bentonville - March 19-21, 1865
