Dear Linda Baird DeFee.... With pleasure, I can report the burial place for your ancestor,William Hugh Graham of the MS unit Co. K, 8th Regiment Infantry (Ellisville Invincibles). William Hugh is buried at ROSE HILL CEMETERY in MACON GA., which is on the National Register of Historic Places. He is buried in row 11, under the name of GRAHAM, W.C., 8TH MISS., CO.K. Despite the different middle initial, I think that W.C. is very likely to be your ancestor. Also, Macon GA.'s fine Washington Memorial Library (Archives Dept. 1-912-744-0851)has a microfilm newspaper listing of the Rose Hill Confederate burials from the 'Macon Daily Telegraph' published April 26, 1866. Located on the bank of the Ocmulgee River and overflown by the flag, the graves are a solumn site with more than 600 Confederate Veterans. I got the story about how they came to be buried there. The ladies of Macon met in April of 1866, raised money, obtained volunters, and exhumed the bodies of soldiers who were buried at about half-dozen Civil War hospital graveyards around Bibb County. Originally, they only had a wooden headboard at the hospital graveyard(s) and intially at Rose Hill Cemetary. At some later time, marble markers were placed at Rose Hill. I've been there and Rose Hill is an honorable place for our ancestors to rest. Bill Cade
