Dr. Jack Welsh tells me that when Confederate hospitals moved, they carried their names with them.

The man I'm researching was wounded at the Battle of Atlanta, died in "Catoosa Hospital near Griffin" and is buried in Stonewall Cemetery in Griffin.

My guess is the hospital was organized at or near Catoosa Springs, and carried its name as it and the war moved south and east.

Jack is the author of TWO CONFEDERATE HOSPITALS AND THEIR PATIENTS--ATLANTA TO OPELIKA, a beautifully researched study, which includes a CD with the names and stories of 20,000 Confederate soldiers. He also wrote the classic work, MEDICAL HISTORIES OF CONFEDERATE GENERALS.
