They organized under a six-month enlistment for local defense at the governor's call. When not occupied at home, officers and men would have been involved in law enforcement, patrol and conscript duty, searching for law-breakers, deserters and men attempting to avoid Confederate military service. I would be surprised to learn that the company ever left Bartow County.

Jarrett Vaughan appears on the January 1864 militia census of Bartow County, listed with the 1041st Militia District. This record is titled, '1864 Census for Re-Organizing the Georgia Militia'. At the time Jarrett Vaughan was described as 43 years and 4 months old, born Spartanburg Dist. SC, an "ore-beater" exempt from CSA military service due to being ruptured.
