Similar stories from Dec '62 (post Fredericksburg) through Jan '63 - trading goods across the Rappahannock via toy sized boats, and in person, fraternizing etc. - run rampant through at least Hood's Division, ANV. I can't speak to the actual exchange of words - that is one of the more entertaining exchanges i've seen - but the opposing pickets were pretty friendly and eager to talk and trade
