Re: 3rd Wisconsin Cav - Natl Tribune

Hello Curtis. Yes, this is the same paper, the National Tribune, that Peck's account comes from. You'll remember Peck tells the story of the pre-dawn attack of a supply train near the Falls of the Verdigris (I just recalled your grandfather lived between Okay and Ft Gibson, right?). Peck essentially says the 3rd Wisconsin Cav escorting the train broke and ran to Ft Gibson when the first shots were fired.

There was apparently a rather heated exchange between Kilgore, of the 3rd Wisc Cav, and Peck over Peck's story. I think you refer to this in a footnote in your transcription of Wagon Boss and Mule Mechanic.
