In Response To: mud creek, i.t. ()

Kent Thompson,
.
Below is from the current edition of my "Appendix P. Some Military Posts and Hideouts in Indian Territory" ... "BP" refers to THE BOURLAND PAPERS.
.
Mud Point, (Confederate), Chickasaw Nation, I.T., now Stephens County OK, where Mud Creek divides into East and West Mud Creek, sec25 twp2S ran6W. May be same as Camp Smith, and/ or Camp Roff #1. per BP-DM4406-3O-111, 121 (Dec 11, 1863, Dec 13, 1863).
.
.... Editor's note: On OK Hwy 7 from Davis to Duncan, the driver will cross East Mud Creek then West Mud Creek.
.
..... " ...II. Major J.R. Diamond will send the other two companies of his command and under Captain [J.] Ferrell to Captain [C.] Roff’s camps on Mud Creek, North of Red River and about thirty-five [35] miles northwest of Warren’s Old Trading Post [# 2], with orders to report to Captain Roff until further ordered. ..." per BP-DM4406-3O-111.
.
Warren’s Trading Post #2, (Confederate), Choctaw-Chickasaw Nation, I.T. (1855 became Chickasaw Nation, I.T.), on Warren’s Bend of the Red River, near the mouth of Mud Creek, now Love County. Mud Point in Stephens County is 35 miles northwest of Warren’s Trading Post #2, which is where Captain C.L. Roff had a camp on December 11, 1863 (Camp Roff #1). Abel Warren est. this trading post in 1837 that lasted about 11 years, 1837-1848. per BP-DM4406-3O-111.
DM4406-3O-111.
.
Camp Roff #1, (Confederate), Chickasaw Nation, probably at Mud Point at the convergence of East Mud Creek and West Mud Creek, sec25 twp2S ran6W, Stephen County, Bourland’s Regt., Dec. 11, 1863. per BP-DM4406-3O-111.
.
Camp Smith, 1834 in Arkansas Territory, probably Mud Point, now Stephens County OK, probably 25 miles traced southwest on the Fort Arbuckle Road which would be near Mud Point, “25 miles west of the Washita River.” per Carolyn Thomas Foreman’s PIONEER DAYS, pp135, 148. (1834).

In 1864-1865 about 5,000 soldiers of about 15 military units patrolled in south of the "South Canadian River" (immediately South of Norman OK) on the North and West Frontier is sort of outlined on my web page:
