Doaksville was an economic center in the Choctaw Nation. Ft Towson was an
abandoned US fort whose buildings were used by the Confederates throughout
the war. The two were a mile or more apart but either name would be used
for the vicintity. The town was just north of the present town of Ft Towson. The
old fort is a historical site northeast of the present town.
