I never got back to about the photo of the Sandtown Ford on the Cabin Creek facebook page. As we discussed, there is a Sandtown Church and cemetery about a mile north and half mile east of the Hwy 51 bridge over the Verdigris. I've been trying to locate, as precisely as possible, the location of the ford used by Gano and Watie on their way to the hay camp action.

Do you know if a study/survey/history was done by the Corps of Engineers before the navigation channel was developed? I'm not sure they did that 'back then' but they produced a book on when Skiatook Lake was built that describes the natural history and human history of the area.
