Re: Mission in Northeast Indian Territory?

Mark,
He may be talking about the Catholic Mission on Osage lands in southern Kansas. There was also a mission in the extreme northeast corner of the Indian Territory (Oklahoma) which I believe was on Quapaw lands -- east of the Neosho River and perhaps very close to Baxter Springs KS (in the Cherokee Neutral Lands). I'll have to look to see if that mission was Catholic. To my knowledge, there was not a Catholic Mission on Cherokee lands.

Please email me at martikw@history-sites.com and I'll provide more precise information.

Thanks!

Ken
