was stationed at Camp Elm Springs on Jun 3, 1864.” per CSRs. ..Capt. W.H. Hooks’ Co D and Capt. W.R. Elliott’s Co I
of DeMorse’s TX 29th Cavalry visited Elm Springs on Apr 4, 1863. per Northern Standard, Clarksville TX (Apr 25, 1863, p2c1).
In Col. D.H. Cooper’s confidential May 13, 1865 letter to TST Brig-Gen J.W. Throckmorton, he suggested that they
meet May 26th, 1865 at Elm Springs. per ORsIv48/2[S#102]p1301.

This E.J. Hazel's nephew was my dad's banker for years. ... quite a gentleman considering that he loaned my dad money, for many years, to make a broomcorn crop, even though my dad was a sharecropper, albeit on a 3,000-acre, 3-mile strip farm along Rush Creek, where the BEST broomcorn was raised due to a special sandy soil, not found in the Washita Valley seen on Hwy 19 between Maysville and Lindsay. ..Yours truly will write a book about broomcorn .. if I live long enough, age 69 now, AND since I have a fat file of "broomcorn" material.

I have to ask, are the Hammetts of "The Hammett House in Claremore OK" part of your family? ..They used to serve mountain oysters. ... a gutsy move, even here in cattle country.
