Re: Prairie Springs
In Response To: Prairie Springs ()

Ken,
All this information is from The Indices of Choctaw and Chickasaw Confederate Soldiers from Bryan County Heritage Assoc. and I know it to be correct.

My great uncle James Thompson was a member of the First Choctaw and Chickasaw Mounted Rifles, also known as Volunteers, Riflemen and Cavalry. He is listed as ACS under D. H. Cooper Sr. He is also listed as ACS at camp Prairie Springs Apptd. Oct. 7-62 Present Jun 30-63.

His brothers were Thomas J. (Doc) Thompson 2 Lt. Second co. K, formerly known as 1st. Co. C 2-K on Jun. 12-61 Sulphur Springs.
He was on roll Aug.31-61 (He is my Great-Grandfather.)

His other brother was Captain Green (AKA) Greenwood Thompson. Greenwood is also listed as 2Lt co E. On petition 21-62 at Fort McCulloch.

Any information you may have concerning the above would be most welcome. I had my Great-Grandfathers original tombstone repaired and the Chickasaw Tribe reset it in it original site in Teller cemetery located just south of Tishomingo. His brother uncle Greenwood is at rest in Durant Ok. I have no idea where Uncle James is. I am a member of the Chickasaw Tribe.

Respectfully,
John
