There were no black soldiers until 1862-1863 and the first blacks at the fort
would be the 1st Kansas Colored (later, the 79th USCT). As for lists, the National
Archives has micro publications of regimental returns. There is a guide to military
records of the NARS, which will list which regiment is on which roll of microfilm.
Remember, that the army of the 19th century rarely had an entire regiment at
one post. Mostly one or two companies would be stationed per post. I don't have my
copy of the NARA guide in front of me, but any good genealogical library should
have a copy. One must first consult the post returns (again, on microfilm) for the
years you are interested in, in order to establish when units were at the post.
As to muster rolls, these will probably be a custom order, unless you pay someone
to research these. Civil War post returns for Gibson are in a separate file and
searching the NARA site will tell you where to look. To recap:
1. Consult the post returns.
2 .Consult the NARA guide to military records for appropriate microfilm roll.
