Major Cyrus J. Wilson is a rather interesting fellow. Joined the 33rd Kentucky as captain of Co. D in July 1862, his unit was mustered into service at Munfordville KY on 13 SEP 1862, one day before Bragg's Army arrived. The unit was captured along with everyone else and he was paroled. Being an officer he was paroled to his home in Larue County. Two weeks later, after visiting New Haven where the 3rd Georgia Cavalry was outposted, he rode to Elizabethtown and led three Union cavalry regiments back to New Haven, where they captured nearly the entire regiment. His regiment was finally exchanged in April 1863 and spent it's time guarding the Railroad in Munfordville and New Haven. He was made LTC and served until they were combined with the 26th Kentucky - where he is dropped to Major. He resigned in May 14 1864. Prior to joining, his official title was Dr. C. J. WIlson, Doctor of Divinity, - a Methodist Pastor. He was born about 1812.
