You might want to take a look at my book "That Body of Brave Men: The U.S. Regular Infantry and the Civil War in the West," which was published a few months ago by Da Capo Press. Three of the subject units of my study (the 15th, 16th, and 19th U.S. Infantry Regiments) were brigaded with the 5th Kentucky until just prior to Stones River. Although my writing does not contain too much specific information about Buckley that you probably don't already know, my book contains a lot of information about the brigade he commanded.
