I agree, the Louisville Daily Journal was a Unionist paper and written from that viewpoint.

My mother is from Madison, my father from Garrard but
I was born and raised in Lexington. I now live in Tenn. where I work as a genealogist specializing in guerilla activity of the Upper Cumberland and have access to several newspapers through the TN archives. I find it interesting to read the various viewpoints ... same as today as it all depends on what side you are on.
