My 2nd great grandfather, Harrison Groom, was in the 12th Kentucky Infantry, E Company. I found his pension and service records at the US Archives. I couldn't believe the detail and the good condition of the records. It was quite a find. Ancestor, John Groom, also served in the 1st KY Cavalry along
with uncles, Maj. William Morrison, and Col. John A. Brents.
