Many transient camps were named after one of the units senior officer and would most likely be in the area of where they formed.
For instance, Camp Key in which the 43rd Tennessee CSA originally trained, was named after the regiments Lt Col. David McKendree Key, located within the county fairgrounds just north of Knoxville.
