That was a most interesting post! Do you have a source that states that these regiments all got Wilkins flags? I would like to get that for my files please.

As for how they got them, some regiments bought their own flags either through the colonel's largesse, the men passing the hat or benefactors from where the units were raised. This was how many of the Tiffany made flags got to regiments for example.

I sure appreciate the list of Illinois regiments that got these flags. I am going to pass that along to the guy who tracks Illinois flags John Schmale.
