In Response To: 3rd Kentucky Cavalry ()

Hi ~ I, too, am trying to find info on 3rd KY Cavalry, CSA, under Lt. Col. Robert M. Martin, under Forrest's Command. My g-grandfather originally was in the 1st KY Cavalry. When Morgan, et al, were captured in Ohio, about 350 men escaped back, being "adopted" by Forrest. By the meddle of September, nearly 1200 Kentuckians had joined, including 500 mounted men. Within a few days they were officially transferred to the command of Forrest. Martin was a fellow Kentuckian, perfect to command the 3rd KY Cavalry.........Don't know if this will help. A lot of what I've learned has come from reading books about Forrest, Wheeler, etc. Sometimes better and more info is available than on the web. Elizabeth
