The 22nd Louisiana Consolidated Infantry was organized in January 1864 from Vicksburg parolees from various regiments who had reported to the parole camp at Enterprise, Mississippi. It included men from the 3rd, 17th, 22nd (aka Patton's 21st), 23rd, 26th, 29th and 31st Louisiana regiments. The regiment is sometimes seen in the Official Records as the 22nd Louisiana Heavy Artillery, and was heavily involved in the defense of Mobile, Alabama, and vicinity.
