As I feared, my notes are of no assistance. I had hoped that I found some indication of from where Lewis was appointed when he was named lieut. col. If I came across that info, it isn't in my folder. Lewis does not appear in the "Dictionary of Louisiana Biography," so that publication was no help either. If you ever determine his full name and residence, please keep me posted.
