My research indicates that the Union force marched out of Pineville in a northwesterly direction for 15-20 miles. They had gone about six miles back toward Pineville when Liddell's men hit them at Hadnot's. Plate CLV in the OR Atlas shows a Hadnot's Creek running into Bayou Rigolette northwest of Pineville.
