Re: Wm. Quantrill in Red River Campaign

On March 30, 1863, Quantrill was arrested at Bonham, Texas. He later escaped, and headed back to Missouri.

Several of his men fought in Louisiana such as Cole Younger, John Jarrette (brother-in-law of Younger), Joseph Lea, David Poole and William Greenwood to name a few. Jarrette was under orders from Gen. Kirby Smith to clear out the cotton thieves, speculators, and spies along Louisiana border on Mississippi River.

Under Lea's leadership, they fought at Wilson's Point, Tester's Ferry on Bayou Macon, Goodrich's Landing, Omega, Tensas Parrish, Horse Shoe on the Mississippi River, and the Lum place on Will Bayor in Madison Parrish. Lea's headquarters were located at Floyd in Carroll Parrish.

As far as I know, Quantrill was not in Louisiana. This information is in my book, THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF QUANTRILL'S GUERRILLAS. For more information on book check out my website at www.geocities.com/outlaw72532/techie.html
