Powell Casey's book on La. military posts mentions a Camp Norwood, of unknown location but probably in the western part of the Florida parishes, that was inhabited by the 3rd La. Cavalry (Wingfield's). This, of course, was nowhere near Vicksburg.
Part of Walker's Texas Division wintered in '63-64 in slave quarters on the Norwood Plantation near Simmesport, as mentioned by Hugh. Seems I've seen some letters from there datelined "Camp Norwood", but I can't swear to it. But this, also, is nowhere near Vicksburg.
