The exact location of Camp Norwood may be difficult to determine. You might begin with the books and articles cited in the 27th Louisiana's bibliography in my book "Guide to Louisiana Confederate Military Units, 1861-1865" (LSU Press, 1989). Some of the letters written by men in the regiment might give a clue to its location. You should also contact Terry Winschel, Historian at the Vicksburg National Military Park, to see if their files contain information on the camp's location.
