Re: 17th Louisiana, Co. H: J.T. Fornby

"Did you notice the other Fonby/Fornby soldier in the same regiment and company?

Fonby, J. T. (also Fornby, J. T.), Pvt. Co. H, 17th La. Inf. Appears on Roll of Prisoners of War, Captured and paroled at Vicksburg, Miss., July 4, 1863.

If your Columbus Franklin had a brother named J.T., then this could be the bit of circumstantial evidence that you need. "

Wow! fast note!...I did see that, but in checking the family records that I have, Columbus Franklin DID have a brother with initials J. T. for John Thomas, but he was born in 1854, so that would be a little young. Columbus Franklin was born in 1843, so he would have been 18.

Thanks...Colleen
