Re: ANCESTORS IN BOSSIER PARISH..!!?!

Ken,

He lived in Orchard Grove Township. It is truoly an interesting story. he died in the war. My ggrandmother was about 9 or so and a "bushwhacker" came and took her away from her mother and brothers and sister to bring food to his hideout. During the war her mother died and she continued to carry food to the outlaw. One winter she came to his hideout with food from his wife and he was dead. The woman would not take care of her and she wound up in Grant Co Arkansas and married John J. Page in 1869 at the ripe old age of 15. By 1870 two of her brothers had moved up and were laborers for her husband and one for her father in law. Her sister married a German railroad man from Wisconsin. He was going to give everyone jobs with the RR but he wanted to take her to Germany to meet his family first. They left and were never heard from again??? So she wound up here in Saline Co,her 1st husban died and she married my ggrandfather Wiley Franklin Forsythe, (Co D 11th Ark Infantry). Anyway, I have hit nothing but brick walls with this search. I know he served because my ggrandma said she watched him walk out of site and just at the top of the rise, he turned and waved at them. Now if I can just determine what unit he served in.
